Interview with salon guru Stephen Marinaro
Stephen Marinaro is best known as The Salon Guy as well as for his interviews with celeb stylists and reality TV cast members. A salon educator and motivator, he is an inspiration to the salon industry and has a few things to say about hair and looks and age.
"Feeling young is something we all want as we get older," he says, "but many people don't pay enough attention to LOOKING younger. When it comes to your hair, there are many misconceptions that people think will make them look younger when in fact it could age them."
FY: Let's talk Red Carpet for a minute. Hollywood men and women who have hit 40 and beyond -- who's got it going ON in terms of hair and style? And what, specifically, do they have going for them? Why do you admire their look at that age?
When seeing these celebs in person I sometimes ask myself, "Are these people real?". Their skin, their hair, their teeth...They are all perfect! I ask them about what it takes to stay looking so good and they all seem to have similar answers. It takes work, but make it a ritual and enjoy it! I spoke with Actor Vincent De Paul of Madmen, he said that men and women should not be afraid of style or color cues. Since we are evolving as a culture, it's ok to go with bolder colors and styles. He also said that men's grooming should be a relaxed elegance and all men should groom. It keeps you looking and feeling young. Always travel with a small grooming kit as well.
When walking Red Carpets both men and women want to not only look good, they want to feel good. I asked Supermodel Veronica Webb, she said hair is everything and is very important.
